What Is Teeth Whitening?

Your teeth will change in color over the years. Aging, dark beverages, smoking and even certain foods can change the color and brightness of your smile. Teeth whitening is a bleaching process that removes stains and brings a healthy, youthful glow to your smile. It is one of the quickest and least expensive cosmetic treatments that can substantially improve the appearance of your smile. At The Smile Lounge, we offer Zoom! teeth whitening, which is an in-office treatment that can whiten your smile several shades in just one visit.

Why Is Teeth Whitening Needed?

Darker teeth may look unhealthy and unattractive. It can make you appear older, since teeth dull and darken with age. Teeth whitening can give you back a more youthful and healthy appearance to your smile. Many people feel more confident when they know their teeth are white and bright. If you drink coffee, tea, red wine or other dark beverages, or you use/used tobacco products, you can erase those dark yellow or brown stains with a quick, teeth whitening treatment.

Who Is a Candidate for Teeth Whitening?

If you have stains or discoloration on your natural teeth, you may be a good candidate for teeth whitening. However, teeth whitening will not change the color of tooth restorations such as fillings, bridges, crowns or dental bonding. To see if you are a good candidate for teeth whitening, schedule a cosmetic dental consultation at our office in Grand Prairie to discuss the best way to improve the color and appearance of your smile.

What Happens During the Teeth Whitening Process?

The Zoom! teeth whitening treatment can dramatically change the color of your teeth in about one hour at our office. To perform the teeth whitening process, we will gently prop your lips away from your teeth and apply a bleaching agent gel to your teeth. A special light is used to activate the whitening process, which lasts for about 30 minutes. Then another application of whitening gel is applied, and the light treatment begins again for about 30 minutes. When the treatment is done, your smile will be much whiter and brighter. You can maintain the results with at-home treatments, or come in for additional in-office teeth whitening as needed. Refresh your smile with our in-office teeth whitening treatment. Contact us at The Smile Lounge to schedule your Zoom! teeth whitening treatment at our office in Grand Prairie.
