Exams & Cleanings in Grand Prairie
What are Dental Exams & Cleanings?
Preventive dental exams and cleanings are the best ways to maintain a healthy smile. On top of daily home oral care, like brushing and flossing, our dental team at The Smile Lounge recommends our patients have regular dental exams and cleanings to keep their teeth and gums healthy. Dental cleanings are performed by one of our talented dental hygienists to remove plaque and tartar. Dental exams are performed by Dr. Daniels to ensure your teeth are in good health.
Why Are Dental Exams & Cleanings necessary?
Even the most meticulous brusher can miss areas on their teeth where plaque and tartar can build up. Dental cleanings are performed with specialized tools to remove hidden tartar to help prevent gum disease and other oral health issues. Dental exams are also vital to identify any dental issues early. Dr. Daniels will carefully examine your teeth for any signs of decay, tooth damage or other oral health issues. Detecting dental issues early can minimize damage to your smile and reduce the cost of treatments.
How Often Should You Come in for Dental Exams & Cleanings?
Most children and adults should ideally have dental checkups and cleanings twice a year or more. If it has been more than six months since your last checkup, call us to book an appointment or use our online scheduling tool. It doesn’t matter how long it has been since your last dental exam and cleaning, you will never be judged at our practice. It is never too late to start better oral health habits.
What Can You Expect at the Appointment for Dental Exams & Cleanings?
During your dental checkups, you will see one of our licensed dental hygienists for a cleaning and meet with Dr. Daniels for an exam. Depending on how long it has been since your last dental exam and cleaning, we may take x-rays. Your appointment will start with your dental cleaning to remove any tartar and plaque, as well as check your gum health. You will then receive a comprehensive exam from our dentist to check for any decay, tooth damage, loose fillings or oral health issues. At the end of your appointment, Dr. Daniels will discuss the results of the exam and if any treatments are recommended.
