Treatment for Bad Breath

Scheduling a dental exam and cleaning is the first step to treating halitosis. Dental cleanings can remove plaque, tartar and the bacteria that can cause bad breath. Our dental hygienist will also inspect your gums to determine if you have any signs of gingivitis or gum disease. If your gum tissue is infected, it could be contributing to your bad breath. We can begin periodontal treatments to help improve the health of your gums, which may also improve your halitosis.
A dental exam can also reveal if there are any dental issues that may be causing your halitosis. Dr. Daniels can carefully check your teeth and gums for any decay or infection that may need treatment. Not all halitosis is caused by a dental issue – it could be a medical problem. However, dental issues are the most likely the cause, and they can be quickly fixed. If you have chronic bad breath, it could be a symptom of a dental problem. Contact us at The Smile Lounge to schedule an appointment for a dental exam and cleaning to determine the cause and best treatment for your halitosis.
