Dental Bridges

Missing teeth can impact your smile, speech and oral health. Many people feel self-conscious when they have a missing tooth, especially if it is one of their front teeth. If you have lost one or more teeth and want your smile and confidence back, a dental bridge may be the right solution. Our experienced dental team at The Smile Lounge offers dental bridges for tooth and smile restoration at our dental center in Grand Prairie.

What Is a Dental Bridge?

There are a few different options for replacing missing teeth. Dentures are removable prosthetics, and dental implants are a surgical, permanent solution. A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic that is a viable option for someone who is not a good candidate for dental implants and does not want the inconvenience of a removable partial denture.
A dental bridge uses the adjacent teeth to support prosthetic teeth to fill in the gaps where teeth were lost. A common type of bridgework uses the teeth on either side of the missing tooth or teeth as anchors for the prosthetic teeth. To create the bridge, the two adjacent teeth are prepared to receive dental crowns. Molds or impressions are made of the two adjacent teeth and for the missing teeth. A dental lab creates the two dental crowns and the prosthetic teeth. The prosthetic teeth are attached between the dental crowns with metal bridgework.

Once the bridgework is complete, the crowns are placed on the adjacent teeth, which hold the prosthetic teeth in place. The teeth look complete and natural – often better than the natural teeth looked when they were still in place.
