Dentures

Dentures are the most common type of dental restoration for missing teeth. They are affordable and durable, with many different options available. If you are considering dentures for the first time or you want to update your old dentures, our restorative dental team at The Smile Lounge can help. We offer advanced solutions in complete and partial dentures at our dental center in Grand Prairie, TX. Dentures are teeth prosthetics that can replace all or some of the teeth. Complete, traditional dentures are made from acrylic and fit on your gums to hold a prosthetic set of teeth in place. The upper denture has a flesh-colored acrylic piece that covers the roof of the mouth and a set of ceramic or plastic prosthetic teeth. The lower set is shaped like a horseshoe to leave room from the tongue and sits on the lower gums.
There are different options in complete dentures. Conventional dentures are made to fit the gums after all teeth are removed and the gums are healed. Immediate dentures can be worn right after teeth are extracted. There are also dentures that are secured in place by dental implants. Our restorative dentist, Dr. Daniels, can discuss the different options available and which would fit your lifestyle and budget.

Partial Dentures

If you have several teeth missing but do not want to remove your existing teeth, a partial denture can be a solution. Partial dentures fit on the gums and use your existing teeth to support the prosthetic teeth and distribute the force of chewing. The partial denture can be made from metal or acrylic, depending on the design and type.
