Dental implants have a titanium post that adheres to the jawbone with an abutment above the gum line to connect dental crowns or dentures. All the different components of the dental implant are susceptible to damage or wear. If there is bone loss in the jaw, the implant could become loose. Trauma or impact to the dental implant may damage the abutment or dental crown. When a dental implant is damaged, it may need a repair, or it could require a complete restoration.
